Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras Street Party and Parades

Pensacola, Florida hosts a Mardi Gras Celebration. The Pensacola celebrations also use Moon Pies in combination with beads, coins, and small candies. Pensacola holds two Mardi Gras parades a year. A smaller parade is held on the Friday night before Mardi Gras with the much larger Pensacola Grand Mardi Gras Parade held on Saturday during the day.

DeLuna Treasure Hunt Kick-Off of the Fiesta of Five Flags

The Fiesta of Five Flags is an annual celebration of the founding of Pensacola, the first European settlement in the United States, in 1559 by Spanish Conquistador, Don Tristan DeLuna. The DeLuna Treasure Hunters are given a series of clues and the winners are eligible for a wonderful array of prizes. In addition to the competitive historically based treasure hunt, there is also a “FIESTA FUN HUNT” based on a second set of clues.

Fiesta Run

Fiesta Run – Pensacola

A scenic route for the runners, beginning near Pensacola Junior College and making its way to historic downtown Pensacola, the 10K distance has now been designated as the RRCA 10K State Championship. The PGA Boeing Championship – Destin, FL

The Boeing Championship is a three-day, 54-hole competition, preceded by a two-day pro-am and a day of practice rounds. It will be held at the Raven Golf Club at Sandestin. The Raven Golf Club is masterfully carved through the marshes, wetlands and pine trees of Sandestin. Robert Trent Jones Jr. crafted this unique and visually stunning 6,900-yard par 71 into what he calls “a true modern traditional.” The Raven is a natural wonder that presents drama and strategy on every tee.

Fiesta of Five Flags and the Krewe of Lafitte have join forces to make the Fiesta of Five Flags Celebration double the fun! The parade will boldly march down Palafox Street featuring brightly colored floats, cheerful clowns, and mischievous pirates. The Fiesta Forces were formed in 1990 as a result of community interest in becoming involved in Fiesta. The Forces are the volunteer manpower behind all the events which Fiesta coordinates. During Fiesta, the Forces are involved with the "Surrender of the City of Pensacola" at which time they capture public officials, local business people and media personalities and hold them hostage until the city "Surrenders to a Week of Fun and Frivolity".

Many residents of the area may not realize that the annual 4th of July Celebration is planned, coordinated and staffed by all the local clubs, with substantial involvement by all five local Pensacola Sertoma clubs, including Five Flags Sertoma, Northeast Sertoma,
Liberty Sertoma, Pensacola Seville Sertoma, and Gulf Breeze Sertoma. These Sertoma clubs solicit corporate sponsors, provide manpower and contract the fireworks providers and vendors.

Thunder on the Gulf

Annual Thunder on the Gulf- Orange Beach, AL

Get ready for some adrenaline pumping, roaring excitement on the Gulf of Mexico! The Gulf Coast Powerboat Association brings the world's fastest race boats back to Orange Beach in a four day racing event that is held mid to late August. Race festivities begin with a VIP Kick-Off Party on Thursday. Friday and Saturday spectators can view the boats, meet the drivers and purchase race merchandise at the dry pits on The Wharf. The main event will take place on Sunday on the liquid race course of the Gulf of Mexico and ends with an award ceremony at The Wharf's Amphitheater.

Greater Gulf Coast Arts Festival

This festival is a juried show where artists compete in categories such as ceramics, glass, jewelry, oil/acrylic, photography, sculpture and watercolor. Blue Angels

Blue Angel’s Homecoming Show

The Blue Angels are stationed at Forrest Sherman Field, Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, during the show season. However, the squadron spends January through March training pilots and new team members at Naval Air Facility El Centro, California. From mid March to November, they travel the United States as positive role models and ambassadors for the U.S. Navy and the Marine Corp. Since their inception in 1946, the Blue Angels have performed for more than 414 million fans.

Snowball Derby Stock Car Race – Pensacola

The first Snowball Derby was only a 100-lapper compared to today’s 300 circuits, but it set the stage for one of the Nation’s most successful and prestigious events. On the first December weekend of the past 38 years, while much of the country prepares for winter, the Florida Panhandle has offered a last retreat for those snowbirds with racing in their blood. The race has a history of drawing many of the country’s top short track stars as well as veterans of the superspeedways and even the Indianapolis 500.

Winterfest Celebration – Pensacola

The annual Winterfest Celebration is a series of interactive performances along a 2.5 mile route in downtown Pensacola. The idyllic small town setting encompasses a historic residential neighborhood and downtown storefronts along Palafox Place. Winterfest provides unique experiences for people of all ages. The area comes to life with entertainment provided by residents and business owners and beautiful downtown Pensacola becomes a stage for Winterfest during the holiday season.

Christmas Dash

Christmas Dash – Downtown Pensacola

The race course uses the Christmas Parade route just prior to the start of the parade. The course is a maze through the downtown area lined with thousands of people cheering. The course ends at Plaza Ferdinand. This is a great event for the big and little kids. There is no post race awards ceremony, however all finishers will receive a special Christmas treat.

Pelican Drop

The Pensacola Pelican Drop

Ring in the new year in Downtown Pensacola with The Pensacola Pelican Drop™, a free event unique to the Gulf Coast. Festivities kick off at 5 p.m. on New Year's Eve and continue until 12:30 a.m.

Throughout the evening the giant Pelican (14 feet tall, with a 20-foot wingspan) is perched above the celebration on a 100-foot platform at the intersection of Palafox and Government Streets. Although Palafox and Government Street will be closed to traffic, area restaurants will be open and additional vendors will be providing refreshments (no alcohol sales). Live performances on three outdoor stages provide ongoing entertainment throughout the evening. The popular kids' area will be expanded this year and will feature the special kids' countdown at 8 p.m. with confetti and the "bubble stomp." At the stroke of midnight, the whole city celebrates as the Pelican descends amidst fireworks and more confetti.

The event is expected to be a huge hit with over 50,000 revelers in attendance.
